"Overnight Poll Shows More Voters Believe Harris Won the Debate!"

In a new survey after the debate, most people said Vice President Harris clearly won her debate against former President Trump. This is different from how Trump did when he debated President Biden three months ago. According to the YouGov poll taken Wednesday morning, 43% of people thought Harris won the debate, while 28% thought Trump won. The remaining 30% were not sure who won.

The poll results show a clear opinion on who won the debate. A CNN poll right after the debate had 63% of voters saying Harris won, while 37% thought Trump won.

In the new YouGov poll, 41% of people watched most or all of the debate, 22% saw only parts of it, and 34% didn’t watch at all.

Before the debate, Harris was slightly ahead of Trump in polls, with Harris at 49% and Trump at 46%, according to The Hill / Decision Desk HQ.

Both candidates are still trying to win over key swing states like Pennsylvania, where the debate happened.

A Republican House member, speaking to The Hill, remarked, “She knew precisely where to cut to get under his skin. It’s really disappointing to see him not maintaining the same level of composure as he did during the first debate.”

This feedback highlights a sharp contrast from Trump’s debate performance against Biden in June, where Trump was widely recognized as the clear victor. Biden's lackluster performance in that debate ultimately led to his surprising exit from the presidential race. This turn of events allowed Kamala Harris to emerge as the frontrunner for the Democratic ticket.

In the latest YouGov poll, 44 percent of respondents felt that Harris is the better choice for president over the next four years. Meanwhile, 41 percent supported Trump as their preferred candidate. Approximately 15 percent of those surveyed were unsure about who would be the more suitable president.

Harris received consistent support across various age groups in the latest poll. Among voters aged 18 to 29, 45 percent felt she would be the best choice for president. The same percentage, 45 percent, was observed among voters aged 65 and older. In the middle age brackets, 43 percent of those aged 30 to 44 and 44 percent of those aged 45 to 64 preferred Harris over Trump.

Conversely, Trump saw his strongest support from voters aged 65 and older, with 48 percent of this group believing he would make a better president for the next four years. This was the only demographic in which Trump led Harris.

Following the debate, Trump asserted that he had “won the debate by a lot,” despite widespread opinion to the contrary. He also criticized the ABC News moderators for fact-checking his false claims, while he felt Harris was not subjected to the same scrutiny.
